Children’s Care, Learning and Development NVQ Awards, Levels 2, 3 & 4
Background
If you work with children and young people aged 0 to 16, then these awards are designed for you. They are relevant to you if you work in day care, crèches, pre-schools and schools, hospitals, primary care and community based services. They are also relevant to people working as childminders.
In order to meet regulatory requirements and due to changing roles and additional expectations on the workforce, new awards have been developed to reflect these requirements and values and principles of child care. These qualifications are especially designed for people who work with children and young people aged 0 to 16. They reflect the diverse group of people who do not work in a single age range, but move between settings catering for different needs.
Our NVQs in Children's Care, Learning and Development will prove that you are a skilled and competent worker, something that all employers are looking for.
Which qualification is right for me?
The Level 2 award is suitable for you if you work as a nursery assistant, crèche worker or special educational needs assistant in a supporting role.
The Level 3 award is suitable for you if work as a childminder, day-care supervisor, SureStart worker or a community nursery nurse. You may have some supervisory responsibilities or be involved in specialist tasks with some degree of responsibility or independence.
The Level 4 award is suitable for you if you work as a centre manager, senior practitioner, childminding co-ordinator or as a pre-school adviser. At this level you will have management or supervisory responsibility of other staff and may have an overall responsibility of the services provided.
Do the qualifications form part of a recognised framework?
These qualifications are part of the National Qualifications Framework and are also recognised by important industry bodies. This means that they will be recognised by most UK employers.
