NVQ and SVQ Level 4 Combined Health & Social Care and Registered Managers Award

Background

For the Combined Health & Social Care Level 4 and Registered Managers Award the candidate must hold a senior staff role. They may be employed in the public, private or voluntary sector across the whole spectrum of residential, hospital, day care, foster care or domiciliary settings.

To achieve the Registered Manager's qualification at level 4, the candidates must be able to demonstrate that they can develop, maintain and evaluate systems and structures to promote the rights, responsibilities and diversity of people. They must also show that they are capable of ensuring that services are designed and reviewed to promote and maximise the achievement of the best possible outcomes for the individual client. The candidate will also be required to manage the use of financial resources and the performance of teams and individuals.

NVQ and SVQ Level 4 Health and Social Care (Adults)

Also available are additional units at all levels, which, whilst they do not form part of the qualification structure, offer opportunities for continuing professional development.

Mandatory Units - Candidates must complete all three

  • Use and develop methods and systems to communicate, record and report
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of healthy and safe practices in the working environment
  • Take responsibility for the continuing professional development of self and others

Plus

  • Develop practice that promotes choice, well being and protection of all individuals.

In addition, candidates select four units from a total choice of 46.

Registered Manager (Adults)

The requirements of the Registered Manager Award are:

  • Four mandatory units
  • Six optional units, with four coming one from each of groups A, B, C and D and two coming from any of the groups
  • Each element must be observed by your assessor

Mandatory units

  • Develop, maintain and evaluate systems and structures to promote the rights, responsibilities and diversity of people
  • Manage a service, which meets the best possible outcomes for the individual
  • Manage the use of financial resources
  • Manage the performance of team and individuals

Optional units - GROUP A

  • Manage activities to meet requirements
  • Contribute to improvements at work
  • Develop programmes, projects and plans
  • Contribute to the provision of effective physical social and emotional environments for group care
  • Promote the interests of client groups in the community
  • Ensure individuals & groups are supported appropriately

Optional units - GROUP B

  • Take responsibility for your business performance and the continuing development of self and others
  • Develop teams and individuals to enhance performance
  • Create, maintain and develop an effective working environment
  • Select personnel for activities
  • Develop and sustain arrangements for joint working between workers and agencies
  • Develop your plans for the business

Optional Units - GROUP C

  • Provide information to support decision making
  • Facilitate meetings

Optional Units - GROUP D

  • Manage continuous quality improvement
  • Monitor compliance with quality systems

Two certificates from the awarding body will be presented to candidates on completion of their award.

Support to achieve this qualification includes registration, assessment and certification costs.

Progress updates are provided for managers after every assessment.
